The Ness Point socks are a simple patterned sock where the patterning is only worked down the front of the leg and top of the foot. The pattern is created using purl rounds to create ridges that are then shaped by increases and decreases.
This pattern is written for a 64st count sock, however the pattern does include the information on how to modify to increase or decrease your stitch count to create the best fit for you. The pattern is also written for magic loop, however does include a note to place stitch markers at the beginning and half way through the round should you wish to work your socks on short circulars or DPNs.
Named after the most easterly point in England, these socks have a wave pattern worked down the foot. Ness point is a landmark in the town I live in and I have a lot of memories of walking down the sea wall to the compass point with my baby asleep in the carrier on my back and a sock on the needles in my hands.
Needles:2.25mm 80cm circular needle or preferred length for magic loop.
Gauge: 8 stitches and 11 rows = 2.5 cm in Stocking stitch in the round.
